Chiropractic care for animals

**We are currently not taking on new animal clients.

Animals, just like humans can suffer neck back and muscular injuries. The causes can vary from trips, falls and bumps leading to loss of mobility, pain stiffness, loss of performance and behavioural changes. And just like humans, animals such as horses, dogs, cats and farm animals can benefit from chiropractic care.

What is Chiropractic for Animals?

The McTimoney method of chiropractic is a non-invasive holistic approach which works to realign and balance the animals musculoskeletal system, restoring health and movement, soundness and performance. The treatment improves and maintains the correct alignment of the spine and other joints of the animals body, thus ensuring the nervous system works efficiently. It is a gentle treatment and is readily accepted by most animals, no drugs or anaesthetics are needed.

When to seek Chiropractic Treatment for Animals?

Indications in animals vary and most owners recognise when their animal is in pain or showing signs of distress. As a guide, owners should consider seeking treatment if their animal displays any of the following signs.

Horses

  • Sore or cold backs, uneven pressure from saddle or numnahs, saddle slipping.
  • Unexplained resistances, such as napping, rearing, refusing, bucking etc.
  • Asymmetry, such as stiffness on one rein, a disunited canter, reluctance to carry out transitions.
  • Unexplained deterioration in usual performance.
  • Shortened stride length.
  • Uneven muscle development or atrophy.
  • Uneven wear of shoes.

Deborah Cain specialises in the treatment of both horses and their riders and how imbalances and asymmetries in the musculoskeletal of one of the combination will be reflected in the other.

It can transform the performance of your horse if the rider is also in good alignment and balance.
